Ecology. Corticolous species (Römbke 2009), often under bark of deadwood (Graff 1954).

Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine species with Atlantic origin (Csuzdi & Zicsi 2003), introduced into Madeira, Azores, Canary Islands, St. Helena, United States (Tennessee and Alaska), South Africa, western Himalayas and New Zealand (Sims & Gerard 1999).

Distribution in Germany. Central Germany (Pieper 1969; Eggert 1982; Römbke 2000, 2001, 2006, 2009); northern Germany (Graff 1953b, 1954; PSMS in Schleswig Holstein: www.edaphobase.org); southern Germany (Römbke et al. 2000; Beck et al. 2001); eastern Germany (Bösener 1965; Römbke et al. 2000); found also 2009 in Brandenburg (S. Krück, unpublished data); western Germany (PSMS in North-Rhine Westphalia: Haag et al. 2009).
