Ecology. Endogeic, acidophilic species occurring in grasslands and forests with a preference for moist habitats (Graff 1954).

Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine species that occurs in Great Britain, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland (Sims & Gerard 1999), Ireland, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Australia (Rota 2014: Fauna Europaea). Introduced into the United States (Sims & Gerard 1999).
