Ecology. Anecic species occurring mostly on arable and grassland sites with low soil organic matter content (≤ 4%) (Jänsch et al. 2013).
Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine species with Atlantic origin (Csuzdi & Zicsi 2003). Widespread in northern temperate regions (Palaearctic, North America), introduced into South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand (Sims & Gerard 1999, Csuzdi & Zicsi 2003).
