Stakyonemus hystrix (Trouessart, 1899)

Type material examined: syntypes: 12 males, 14 females and 3 nymphs, from Opisthocomus hoazin (Müller, 1776) (Opisthocomiformes: Opisthocomidae), GUYANA, no further data (MNHN-Ac969.412, slide number 35H6).

Additional material examined. 56 males and 40 females from O. hoazin (Opisthocomiformes: Opisthocomidae), BRAZIL, Pará State, Fazenda Fartura, 09°40'S / 50°23'W, Santana do Araguaia, 0 8 September 2013, D.V. Boas-Filho coll.

This species and Opisthocomacarus umbellifer, see below, were carefully redescribed by Atyeo & Gaud (1971), therefore their full redescriptions are not necessary here. To make the present work more consistent and helpful for identification of feather mites associated with the hoatzin we provide here only their detailed illustrations.
