Remote islands: 1) Pacifc Ocean Islands (north) of Gardner, Laysan, Pearl and Hermes, and Trig (Wilson 1964 a, Kohls & Clifford 1967, Keirans & Clifford 1978).

Camicas et al. (1998), under the name Scaphixodes laysanensis, stated that this tick is found in the Australasian Zoogeographic Region, but Ixodes laysanensis has only been recorded from islands located north of the Tropic of Cancer and outside the Australasian Zoogeographic Region .
