Neotropical: 1) Mexico (south) (Guzmán-Cornejo & Robbins 2010, Guglielmone et al. 2020).
Guglielmone et al. (2003, 2014) listed Ixodes mexicanus as occurring in the Nearctic Region, while Clifford et al. (1973) and Camicas et al. (1998) considered it to be a Neotropical species. Guglielmone et al. (2020) later reevaluated the geographic distribution of Ixodes mexicanus, ultimately agreeing with Clifford et al. (1973) and Camicas et al. (1998).
