Neotropical: 1) Argentina, 1) Chile (González-Acuña & Guglielmone 2005, Guglielmone et al. 2021).

Camicas et al. (1998) and Muñoz-Leal et al. (2019a) considered it possible that Ixodes sigelos is a synonym of Ixodes abrocomae, a species validated in Guglielmone et al. (2010a). Sánchez et al. (2010) and Muñoz-Leal et al. (2019b) found molecular evidence indicating that more than one species may exist under the name Ixodes sigelos .
