Nearctic: 1) Mexico (north); Neotropical: 1) Mexico (south) (Guzmán-Cornejo & Robbins 2010, Guglielmone et al. 2021).
Ixodes tancitarius was treated as a Neotropical species by Camicas et al. (1998) and as a Nearctic tick by Guglielmone et al. (2003), but it is found in both zoogeographic regions, as explained in Guglielmone et al. (2021).
