3. Haemaphysalis aculeata Lavarra, 1904 .
Oriental: 1) India, 2) Sri Lanka (Geevarghese & Mishra 2011, Liyanaarachchi et al. 2015a).
Keirans (1985b) included Indonesia within the range of Haemaphysalis aculeata, noting that the lectotype of this species had been collected in “Bodd, Indonesia (locality not verified).” However, Lavarra (1904) stated that Haemaphysalis aculeata had been collected from “ Tragulus meminna Bodd. delle Indie orientali.” In this case “Bodd.” is not an Indonesian locality but an abbreviation for “Boddaert,” probably referring to the description of Tragulus meminna on page 131 of Boddaert (1784); additionally, “Indie orientali” embraced a wider area than Indonesia at the beginning of the 20 th century. Indonesia is therefore not included within the range of Haemaphysalis aculeata .
