31. Rhipicephalus gertrudae Feldman-Muhsam, 1960b .

Afrotropical: 1) Namibia, 2) South Africa (Walker et al. 2000, Horak et al. 2018).

Walker et al. (2000) discussed the difficulties involved in morphologically separating the adults of Rhipicephalus gertrudae, Rhipicephalus capensis and Rhipicephalus follis, while Horak et al. (2018) stated that it is difficult to differentiate larvae and nymphs of Rhipicephalus gertrudae from those of such species as Rhipicephalus follis, Rhipicephalus simus and Rhipicephalus tricuspis .

Keirans (1985b, page 694) listed a male of Rhipicephalus gertrudae from Malawi. Walker et al. (2000) did not discuss this record, and Horak et al. (2018) treated this tick as restricted to Namibia and South Africa. We do not include Malawi within the geographic distribution of Rhipicephalus gertrudae .
