Afrotropical: 1) Ethiopia, 2) Kenya, 3) Somalia, 4) Tanzania, 5) Uganda (Walker 1974, Pegram 1976, Morel 1980, Matthysse & Colbo 1987, Walker et al. 2000, Kolonin 2009).

Morel (1980) included Eritrea within the geographic distribution of Rhipicephalus armatus, but Walker et al. (2000) noted that Morel based his decision on a reference that does not support this statement. Norval (1985b) reexamined two specimens of Rhipicephalus armatus found in Zimbabwe, but he was not convinced that this tick occurs there; consequently, Zimbabwe is provisionally excluded from the range of Rhipicephalus armatus .
