135. Haemaphysalis quadriaculeata Kolonin, 1992b .

Oriental: 1) China (south), 2) Vietnam (Kolonin 1995b, Keirans & Robbins 1999, Xu & Sun 2016, Zhao et al. 2021).

Camicas et al. (1998) and Kolonin (2003, 2009) believed that Haemaphysalis darjeeling in Tanskul & Inlao (1989) is in fact Haemaphysalis quadriaculeata, and Thailand is included within the range of this tick in Kolonin (2009), and also in Xu & Sun (2016) and Petney et al. (2019). The decision by Xu & Sun (2016) to support the view that Haemaphysalis darjeeling in Tanskul & Inlao (1989) is equivalent to Haemaphysalis quadriaculeata was unexpected because Xu & Sun (2016) described a male of Haemaphysalis quadriaculeata from China that is morphologically unlike the male of Haemaphysalis darjeeling from Thailand in Tanskul & Inlao (1989). Guglielmone et al. (2020) stated that the description of Haemaphysalis darjeeling in Tanskul & Inlao (1989) closely matches its original description, and Thailand is provisionally excluded from the range of Haemaphysalis quadriaculeata . Redescriptions of both species would be a useful contribution.
