Gerrhopilus andamanensis (Stoliczka, 1871)

Material: One adult, NMW 15427 (Holotype) from Andaman Islands .

Morphology: Reported to have 390 transverse scale rows on the body and 17 on the tail; 18 longitudinal rows of scales and 4 labials. Blackish brown above with grey and white checkered pattern below (Stoliczka, 1871). The holotype is illustrated here in Fig. 3B.

Distribution: Not recorded during the present study.

Remarks: Das (1994) regarded it to be endemic to the Nicobars without any justification and subsequently included it in the Andaman snake fauna (Das, 1999).

Status: A species that is known only from its holotype until now.
