Type species (here designated): Melolontha splendida Fabricius, 1781 (this type species was selected because I have examined the type specimen of Fabricius [preserved in ZMUC] and because it is the first listed originally included nominal species).

Originally included nominal species: Melolontha splendida Fabricius, 1781 and Scarabaeus lateralis Wiedemann, 1821 (as a synonym of Melolontha splendida).
