Material examined. Holotype & allotype: New Caledonia. MUSORSTOM 4, stn CP217, 22°03.6’S, 167°27.00’E, 850 m, 29.IX.1985, (MNHN-Na 11986).
Measurements (mm). Female holotype, PCL: 6.3; RCL: 8.3; TL: 21.9. Male allotype, PCL 6.5; RCL: 8.9; TL: 22.5. The holotype bore 132 eggs in an early stage of development measuring 0.73 × 0.77 mm.
Distribution. Japan, Indonesia, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Australia, and Madagascar (see remarks).
Coloration. Unknown.
Hosts. Saito & Komai (2008) lists Demospongia sp. and the hexactinellid sponges, Hyalonema sp., Euplectella sp., and Pheronema semiglobosum, as hosts. A mated pair taken from north of Port Hedland, Australia (USNM 256954) examined in this study was found in a Euhyalonema sp.
Remarks. This species was thoroughly described by Saito & Komai (2008) and is not redescribed here. The mouthparts are illustrated here (Figs. 5 E–K). This species is now reported from Australia (USNM 256954) and Madagascar (MNHN) from material examined in this study. Saito & Komai (2008) also reported on additional records of this species from New Caledonia (Norfolk Ridge, Mount Stylaster, Mount Jumeau, and South Landsdowne).
