Diagnosis. This species belongs to the Pelthydrus truncatus species group. Habitus as in Figs. 3–4. BL: 2.90 – 3.05 mm, BW: 1.55 – 1.65 mm. Body elongate oval, dorsally nearly flat, apex of elytra (combined) truncated, surface shiny black. Head rather rectangular; anterior margin of clypeus straight; pronotum trapezoidal, with lateral margins nearly straight. Elytra almost parallel sided along basal 0.35, and then gradually narrowed posteriorly; small ground punctures sparsely distributed. Mesoventrite with apically acute triangular plate and median longitudinal carina; metaventrite with aposterior flask-shaped, flat and smooth glabrous area, whose bottleneck a little short; first sternite with a medial longitudinal carina not reaching posterior margin. Aedeagus (Fig. 6). 0.50 mm long, nearly parallel sided, parameres about 1.1 times as long as phallobase; median lobe wide, gradually narrowing towards rounded apex, gonopore sinuated at distal 1/4; parameres somewhat exceeding median lobe, apical portion slightly pointing towards midline.
Distribution. China: Yunnan (it is recorded from China for the first time), Thailand.
Remarks. A newly generated partial sequences of cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) is deposited in GenBank under accession number MG554386.
