Biology: Originally, the specimens of the type series of M. muehni were obtained from Oiketicus kirbyi (Guilding) ( Lepidoptera, Psychidae) (Blanchard 1939). Additional material was obtained from Alabama argillacea (Hübner) ( Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) (Blanchard & De Santis 1975). Nevertheless, the species was later considered as non-specific saprophagous (Oliva 1997). In Buenos Aires, M. muehni exhibited higher abundance during the winter, and was captured both with rotten cow liver and dog faeces (Mulieri et al. 2008).
