Colletes tuberculatus Morawitz 1893: 80 –81, ♀, ♂ (type locality: “Serbent, Jagnob: Ravat, Turusch-Dara-Pass, Iskander-kul, Takfon, Kschtut, Darch”, Tadjikistan).

Colletes tuberculatus siculus Noskiewicz 1959: 511 –513, ♀, ♂ (type locality: Etna, Sicily). Syn. nov. Colletes tuberculatus anatolicus Noskiewicz 1959: 513 –515 ♀, ♂ (type locality: Nigda, Turkey). Syn. nov. Colletes daviesanus tuberculatus: Warncke 1978: 349 –350.

Colletes tuberculatus siculus Noskiewicz 1959 and C. t. anatolicus Noskiewicz 1959 are here synonymized with Colletes tuberculatus Morawitz 1894 . Both species were described based on slight differences of the colour of pilosity and the breadth of apical metasomal tergal hair bands. These characters vary with the climatic conditions the bees live in (steppic to temperate) and are unsuitable for a taxonomic differentiation. Within the taxonomically difficult C. fodiens species-group C. tuberculatus is well characterized with the intraspecific morphological and colour variation not exceeding that of other widespread Colletes species like C. cunicularius (Kuhlmann 2000), C. fodiens (Kuhlmann & Proshchalykin 2011), C. floralis or C. chengtehensis (Kuhlmann 2009b) . Thus, it is not justified to retain subspecies in C. tuberculatus .
