Taxonomic history. Reduced to subgeneric status (in Smicromyrme Thomson, 1870) by Bradley & Bequaert, 1923: 229. Transferred with subgeneric status (to Trogaspidia Ashmead, 1899) by Hammer, 1955: 401. Reinstated to generic status by Nonveiller, 1973b: 48. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was associated but not described by Nonveiller, 1980a: 66; the male of another species was associated and described by Péringuey, 1898: 88 (and considered to be the male of the type species by Bischoff, 1921: 488).
