Taxonomic history. Proposed for Hoplomutilla sensu André, 1902c: 16, 19, 46 and Ashmead, 1904: 7, 8 (not Ashmead, 1899). Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and identified (as Mutilla mystica Gerstaecker, 1874: 48: 48) by Lenko, 1964: 91.

Distribution. Neotropical.
