Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species was associated (on the basis of a pair taken in copula) and identified (as Mutilla argenteopicta Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869: 226) by the late G. Nonveiller (pers. comm. to ASL).

Distribution. Afrotropical.
