Monterey Bay, central California (Follett 1948) to Chile (Pequeño 1989), including Gulf of California (Schneider in Fischer et al. 1995), and Islas Galápagos (Miller and Lea 1972). Inshore (Miller and Lea 1972); depth: 0–107 m (351 ft) (min.: Robertson and Allen 2002; max.: Amezcua Linares 1996). In marine, brackish and fresh waters (Velasco and Thiel 2002, Argulo et al. 2020).
