Polistes ridleyi Kirby, 1890: 541, ♀.
Diagnosis. Female. Body pigmentation brown, with yellow spots on the head, mesepisternum, coxae, scutellum, and metanotum, and yellow bands on propodeal area; scutum reddish. Wing pigmentation hyaline and matte. Intermediate size, about 18 mm in total length. Clypeus slightly wider than it is long or as long as wide, covered by short bristles at its base becoming long toward the apex, and with medium-sized, deep punctures present only in the apical region, pointed apex, clypeus-eye touching for an extent equal to or greater than width of antennal socket; gena width at midlength equal to or slightly wider than eye; occipital carina strong; humeri not projecting; mesepisternum with short bristles, small and shallow punctation; propodeal concavity widely extended in the center, propodeal striae weak throughout its length; tergum I longer than wide, with short and dense bristles, weakly, medium and deep punctate; tergum II wider or as wide as long; short bristles, weakly punctate. Male. Similar to females, except for the strong striae on the propodeum.
