Larnaca (Larnaca) rufifronta Su, Duan & Shi sp. nov., Chinese name üDz原ssdz

(Figs. 1; 3A, B; 5C)

Description. Female. Body medium and stout. Head. Face oval, nearly smooth. Eyes ovoid, slightly protruding forwards and outwards. Median ocellus distinct, lateral ocelli indistinct (Fig. 1A). Fastigium verticis broad, width as about 2 times of antennal scape. Anterior margin of pronotum slightly projecting, posterior margin almost straight (Fig. 1C). Wings. Tegmen reaching apex of abdomen, and hind wing almost as long as tegmen. Tegmen: ScA and ScP undivided, free throughout. R releases MA at basal third of tegmen and releases RS near the middle. RS temporarily fused with MA after releasing in left tegmen, while separated with MA in right tegmen. MP absent. CuA and CuP undivided, free throughout, with 3 anal veins (Fig. 3A, B).

Legs. Fore coxa with 1 spine. Fore and middle femora unarmed on ventral surfaces; tibiae with 4 pairs of long spines and 1 pair of short apical spurs on ventral surfaces respectively. Hind femur with 8–9 outer spines and 4 inner spines on ventral surface; hind tibia with 6 outer spines and 5 inner spines on dorsal surface, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs, ventral surface also with 1 pair of pre-apical spurs. Abdomen. Lateral areas of second and third abdominal tergites with 1–2 rows of stridulatory pegs respectively. Seventh abdominal sternite broad, lateral margins triangularly protruding outwards, posterior margin with a small and triangular notch in the middle. Subgenital plate wider than long, gradually narrowing from base to apex, posterior margin rounded (Fig. 1D). Cerci long and conical with apices rounded, feebly curved inwards (Fig, 1E). Ovipositor short, strongly curved dorsally, dorsal and ventral margins smooth, apex subacute (Fig. 1F).

Coloration. Body red. Eyes black. Inner margin of antennal sockets and antennae black, while only flagella with annulate and yellow stripes. Apical area of mandible black. Median ocellus light yellow (Fig. 1A). Disc of pronotum with 1 pair of indistinct and yellow spots on posterior third (Fig. 1C). Wings nearly transparent with veins dark brown (Fig. 4A, B). Fore and middle tibiae with spines and spurs dark brown which apical areas light. Spines on hind femur dark brown which with apices light and spines on hind tibia black.All abdominal tergites dark brown.

Male. Unknown.

Specimen examined. Holotype: ♀, Mêdog, Nyingchi, Xizang, China. 8 July, 2023, collected by Yonghui Li.

Measurements (mm). Body length: ♀ 28.1; pronotum length: ♀ 8.0; tegmen length: ♀ 19.7; hind femur length: ♀ 17.1; ovipositor length: ♀ 12.5.

Discussion. This new species differs from the known species of the genus Larnaca in the following: body red; lateral margins of female seventh abdominal sternite triangularly protruding outwards and posterior margin triangularly concave; female subgenital plate wider than long, gradually narrowing and posterior margin rounded.

Etymology. The name of this new species derives from its red face, Latin “ ruf- ” (red) and “ front- ” (frons).

Distribution. Xizang (China).
