Withius hispanus (L. Koch, 1873)

Occurrence: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Italy, Montenegro, Morocco, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey (WPC 2023).

Known localities in Hungary: Berhida (Novák 2015).

New data: Kecskemét: 1890, leg. LB (HNHM Pseud-1736: 1 adult); Makád: 30.04.1988, leg. OM (HNHM Pseud-1830: 1 adult) .

Habitat preference: The species is known from under tree bark (Lessert 1911; Dashdamirov 1999), but in

Slovakia it has been collected in pitfall traps (Christophoryová et al. 2012). In Slovakia it has been reported from a floodplain forest (Christophoryová et al. 2012), and in Hungary it was collected in loess steppe (Novák 2015).

Remarks: The species was recently recorded from Hungary for the first time (Novák 2015).
