Scolytoplatypus pubescens Hagedorn, 1904: 123 .
Thai distribution: C: Phetchaburi; N: Chiang Mai (Beaver & Browne 1975), Nan, Phetchabun.
New records: More than 100 specimens, collected primarily by participants in the TIGER project in Chiang Mai in Doi Inthanon NP (from 1200–2500m) , Doi Pha Hom Pak NP (1450 and 2175m) , and in Nan (Doi Phu Kha NP (from 1310–1375m).
Other distribution: India (Assam, Uttar Pradesh, W. Bengal), Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Vietnam. (2)
Biology: The biology and gallery system are described by Beeson (1961), who notes that brood size can reach 70–80 individuals. The species is polyphagous (Beaver & Gebhardt 2006). It appears to be primarily a montane species, but can occur at lower altitudes.
