Taxonomy: The species is listed under Leptoxyleborus Wood by Wood & Bright (1992), but has the morphological characters of the genus Ancipitis and is here transferred to that genus.
Biology: Recorded from four different families of angiosperm trees, and from Pinus merkusii (Pinaceae) (Browne 1961 a, Ohno 1990, Schedl 1969). It was frequently collected in pitfall traps baited with ethyl alcohol in Brunei and West Malaysia (R. A. Beaver pers. obs.). Like many other ambrosia beetles, adults are probably attracted to alcohol vapour emitted from dead trees as they decay (e.g. Miller & Rabaglia 2009, Ranger et al. 2011, Reding et al. 2011, Gorzlancyk et al. 2013).
