Other distribution: India (W. Bengal), Indonesia (Java), Malaysia (W.). The record from the Solomon Is. (Bigger 1988) may be a misidentification. The species also occurs in Nepal (R. A. Beaver, unpublished record). (4)

Biology: The only recorded hosts are two species of Shorea (Dipterocarpaceae) (Beeson 1930, Browne 1961a). The gallery system branches in three dimensions, and has brood chambers in the horizontal plane (Browne 1961a).
