Allmonia mutabilis (Sowerby, 1847) new comb.

* Turritella ( Proto, Defr.) mutabilis— Sowerby, 1847: 421, pl. 20, fig. 26.

Protoma mutabilis Sowerby — Dollfus et. al., 1903: 1 [plates published in Pereira da Costa, 1867: pl. 28, fig. 17].

Protoma (s.s.) gomesi Costa in Dollfus, Berkeley-Cotter & Gomes, 1903 — Glibert, 1962: 105.

Type material. We do not know the whereabouts of the type specimen(s).

Discussion. A somewhat dubious and rarely reported species, which differs from A. carniolica and A. rotifera mainly in the absence of a pronounced keel at the adapical suture, the oblique suture, and the high whorls.

Distribution. Only recorded from Portugal, where it co-occurs with other Allmonia species at the same Burdigalian, Serravallian and Tortonian localities (Glibert 1962).
