Diaphana Brown, 1827
The genus Diaphana was introduced by T. Brown (1827) with the type species D. candida . Diaphana is characterised by an external thin, fragile, usually globose, umbilicate shell that accommodates the animal completely. The foot is usually forked posteriorly and the radula consists of a bilobed denticulated rachidian tooth and usually one long angulated finely denticulate lateral tooth on each side. Gizzard plates and jaws are absent. The penis is armed.
