Distribution. West Pacific (Japan, Taiwan, China, Philippines, New Guinea, Australia), Central and South Pacific, and eastern Indian Ocean (Thailand).
Remarks. Cano (1889) recorded Gelasimus chlorophthalmus from Xiamen, Fujian, but Crane (1975: 103) questioned the identification without any comment. However, its distribution in Fujian is not impossible because it has been recorded in adjacent areas, e.g., continental China (Hong Kong) (Table 1), Penghu Island in the central Taiwan Strait (Shih et al. 2008), and on the western coast of Taiwan (Shih 1994).
