Material examined. None.
Distribution. West Pacific (the Ryukyus, Taiwan, China (?), Philippines, Indonesia [including Sumatra], New Guinea, Australia).
Remarks. According to Crane (1975), U. coarctata mainly occurs on oceanic islands outside the South China Sea. Both U. typhoni and U. coarctata have a row of orbital tubercles and this has led to some confusion in their identification, however this row is relatively long in U. typhoni (Fig. 5 A) and short in U. coarctata (Shih et al. 2008: fig. 1H; see also Crane 1975: 622). We have identified specimens from southern Hainan as U. typhoni (see Remarks under U. typhoni) but the recent record of U. coarctata from Hainan (see Yang et al. 2008) need to be verified. The species is included here as a doubtful record.
