Stethorus proximus Chazeau, 1979: 296 .

Endemic to New Caledonia, it has been recorded from the west coast, where it seems restricted to sclerophyllous forest patches: Nouméa (Ouen Toro), Païta (Mt Nondoué), Pindaï peninsula. It has been seen to feed on Tetranychus neocaledonicus André by Chazeau (1979).
