Coelophora quadrivittata Fauvel

Coelophora quadrivittata Fauvel, 1903: 328 .

This is an endemic species from New Caledonia, known from both coasts and Loyalty Islands (Lifou). This taxon is highly polymorphic from a morphological point of view, which leads to some identification confusions with C. mulsanti . But C. quadrivittata is always smaller than C. mulsanti . Its biology has been well studied by Chazeau (1980, 1981a). Known preys are scale insects [ Aspidiotus sp., Aspidiotus destructor Signoret, Coccus viridis (Green)] and psyllids ( Heteropsylla cubana). It is a widespread species in open habitats, and attracts some interest for biocontrol programs against Coccomorpha (Chazeau 1981a).
