Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin described this variety based on females from Syria that differed from the nominate species in colouration, but refrained from describing a new species because only females were available. The specimen in the ZMH comes from the Simon collection, therefore other syntypes are likely deposited at MNHN and a lectotype should be designated from this collection. Roewer (1933: 378) created a new genus and elevated this variety to species level, but also described the male for the first time. He examined 2 ♂ and 8 ♀ including the type, from Syria, Algeria, the Greek islands of Kalymnos and Nisyros, and Turkey for his description. We do not know where these specimens are located.
Current systematic position. Daesiidae, Gluviopsilla discolor (Kraepelin 1899) .
