Sisor rabdophorus Hamilton 1822 ZBK: 208, 379. Type locality: Bhagirathi River at crossing point between Kalna (Barddhaman Dist.) and Nisinghapur (Nadia Dist.), 23°13'33"N, 88°32'41.4"E [Ganges drainage], West Bengal State, India. Neotype: ZRC 45829. Neotype designated by Ng (2003).
Distribution: Ganges drainage, West Bengal States, India (Ng, 2003).
Remarks: This species has been reported many times from the Indus drainage in Pakistan (Mirza & Hameed, 1974; Mirza, 1974; Tandon & Gupta, 1975; Mirza, 1976; Jayaram & Singh, 1977; Jayaram, 1981; Talwar & Jhingran, 1991; Jayaram, 1999; Menon, 1999; Karmakar, 2000). Ng (2003) was unable to examine any specimens of Sisor ZBK from the Indus drainage, and was unable to confirm the conspecificity of this population with S. rabdophorus ZBK.
