Bagarius rutilus Ng & Kottelat 2000 ^ZBK: 10, fig. 3. Type locality: Market in Hanoi, Viet Nam. Holotype: ZRC 40440. Paratypes: CAS 94941 (4), CMK 15407 (1), MNHN 1934-286 to 290 (5), NRM 13676 (2), ZRC 45704-05 (1, 1).

Distribution: Red River and Ma drainages in northern Vietnam (Ng & Kottelat, 2000; Kottelat, 2001a, Kottelat, 2001b).
