Glyptothorax merus Li 1984 ^ZBK: [English p. 86], fig. 2. Type locality: Yunnan, China. Holotype: KIZ 737159. Paratypes: KIZ (14). Listed as a synonym of Glyptothorax interspinalum by Chu et al. (1990).

Distribution: Red River drainage, Vietnam and China (Li, 1984b; Chu et al., 1999; Kottelat, 2001a).
