Genus Drapetis Meigen

Drapetis Meigen, 1822: 91 . Type species: D. exilis Meigen, 1822 (by monotypy).

Remarks. Currently, Drapetis includes about 80 species worldwide, with only seven species known from the Afrotropical Realm including three new species described here from D.R. Congo. Previously known Afrotropical species of this genus are D. capensis Smith, 1967 and D. hiatus Whittington, 1993 from South Africa, D. inquilina Séguy, 1945 from Kenya, and Palaearctic D. flavipes Macquart, 1834 recorded from Sudan (Séguy 1945; Smith 1967; Raffone 1991; Whittington 1993). Whittington (1993) provided a key to Afrotropical species of Drapetis that we updated with our new species.
