Neanias Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1888

Type species: Neanias squamatus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1888

Discussion. The armature of the male ninth abdominal tergite in the type species ( N. squamatus) agrees with that in the genus Haplogryllacris . Also the rather wide oval shape of the head and the form of the female subgenital plate agree with the condition in that genus. One might thus regard Neanias as a micropterous or apterous form of Haplogryllacris . But the majority of the species of Neanias has still to be investigated with regard to those characters, especially the appendages of the male ninth abdominal tergite. One additional species, only known from female, is provisionally added to the genus.
