Gryllacris thailandi Gorochov 2007

Gryllacris thailandi thailandi Gorochov, Dawwrueng & Artchawakom (2015b)

Material examined. Known only from descriptions in Gorochov (2007) and Gorochov et al. (2015b).

Discussion. There are no significant differences in the shape of the female subgenital plates between the types of both taxa. Wing venation and coloration are almost identical as well, as are coloration of the heads: black with light yellowish white ocelli. The black suffusion of the pronotum is in G. thailandi more extended, leaving only the apical quarter pale, while in G. vittata it covers only the basal third. Both taxa also share the dark median stripe of the tegmina. The type of G. thailandi was collected in Phetchaburi Province in Thailand, that of G. vittata in Tenasserim Province in Myanmar; both provinces border each other and share the dividing mountain range from which G. thailandi was collected. Since the males of both taxa are still unknown for further proof of the difference or identity of both taxa, I currently regard G. thailandi as a subspecies of G. vittata Walker, 1869 .
