Figs. 11G, 12N, 14 F–H, 17M–N
Material examined. Indonesia: West Java, Batavia [= Jakarta], (6°10'S, 106°48'E), 1908, leg. Dr. Siebert— 1 male (Museum Wiesbaden); same locality, 1906, leg. P. Serre— 1 female (Paris MNHN) .
Diagnosis. The species is characterized by the specific shape of the male ninth abdominal tergite that has the moveable posterior area directing ventrad but is at ventral margin bent proximad, strongly widened and divided in midline into a pair of roughly auricular lobes, in ventro-apical view triangular lobes.
Description. Small to medium sized species. Head: Face narrow ovoid; forehead nearly smooth; fastigium verticis hardly wider than scapus, separated by a narrow suture from fastigium frontis; ocelli indistinct (Fig. 12N). Abdominal tergites two and three with abdominal stridulatory teeth little distinct, forming 1 (posterior) row at sides of tergite II and 2 rows at sides of tergite III.
Wings little surpassing hind knees (Fig. 11G). Tegmen: Radius with RS branching before mid-length, both forked near tip; both, media anterior and cubitus anterior fused in basal area with radius, media divides near end of basal third, cubitus anterior divides between basal fourth and fifth, CuA divides again in about mid-length into CuA1 and CuA2; cubitus posterior undivided, free throughout; with 4 anal veins.
Legs: Fore coxa with a spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with 5–6 external and 2 internal spines on ventral margins; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins with one pre-apical spine each; with 3 apical spurs on both sides.
Coloration. Discolored yellowish brown; vertex and pronotum medium brown, hind margin blackish. Fore legs medium brown, fore tibia with a pale stroke in dorsal half of anterior surface; mid and hind legs yellowish brown. Face medium brown, fastigium verticis and fastigium frontis, lower half of clypeus, and labrum yellowish brown; scapus with about inner surface dark brown to blackish, about outer surface light brown. Tegmen surface yellowish transparent, main veins yellowish; cross-veins dark brown to black; hind wing yellowish transparent; cross-veins dark brown to black.
Male. Eighth abdominal tergite strongly prolonged behind with concave lateral margins and truncate apical margin, covering base of ninth tergite. Ninth abdominal tergite (type H in Brunner 1888) distinctly narrower than tergite VIII with concave lateral margins; slightly beyond halfway suddenly bent proximad in about a 90° angle (Fig. 14F) giving the impressions of a truncate tip when seen from above-behind (Fig. 14G); the proximally bent apical part divided into two widely separated lobes with roof-shaped external and concave internal surface, in ventro-apical view giving the impression of a pair of triangles with prolonged ventral angles with obtuse tips (Figs. 14H). When seen from behind-below it appears as though the base of ninth tergite continuous below the prolonged eight tergite (Fig. 14H). Subgenital plate more than twice as wide as long; apical margin subtruncate with a pair of small triangular lobes in middle; cerci inserted at lateral angles of apical margin. Phallus membranous.
Female as in G. l. menzeli described below (Figs. 17 M–N).
Measurements (1 male).—body w/wings: 31; body w/o wings: 22; pronotum: 4.7; tegmen: 23; tegmen width: 7; hind femur: 13.5 mm.
