Distribution. Southern and central Africa. The combination Aethalopteryx atriplaga (Le Cerf, 1919) was established by Schoorl (1990).

Material examined. Holotype ♀, Angola, Riviere Kuando, frontiere Sud-Est Angola-Rhodesia, 1914 (MNHN); examined; 1 ♂, Angola, Prov. Cuanza Sul, 1 km N Chipita, btw. Uku-Sumbe, 11°16.032´S 14°09.521´E, 301 m, 29.III.2014, leg. Sulak, Naumann & Ott (MWM).
