Group of Plekocheilus (Eurytus) episcopalis

Remarks. The following taxa are treated from the study area: P. (E.) e. episcopalis, P. (E.) e. corticosus, P. (E.) e. auriformis, P. (E.) plectostylus, P. (E.) subglandiformis, P. (E.) dalmasi, P. (E.) piperatoides, P. (E.) argenteus, P. (E.) lynciculus and P. (E.) nocturnus .

Richardson (1995) grouped P. (E.) apolinari Pilsbry, 1935 together with P. (E.) corticosus (Sowerby III, 1895) and followed Pilsbry (1935) in including P. (E.) episcopalis within the genus “ Plectostylus .” We consider the following three forms, P. episcopalis, P. corticosus (including apolinari) and P. auriformis to differ only at the subspecific level, and treat them under the nominal form, P. (E.) episcopalis (Pfeiffer, 1855); see also remarks under each subspecies.
