Plekocheilus (Eurytus) lugubris (Dunker, 1882) comb.nov.
(Figs 14 B, 15K–M)
Bulimus lugubris Dunker 1882: 378, pl. 11 figs 1–2. Type locality: Colombia, Pasto. Type material: not located. Plekocheilus lugubris Dunker; Richardson 1995: 316 (references).
Material. Nariño, Pasto (type locality).?, Bogotá, leg./1902: MZSP 49310.
Remarks. Breure (1979) listed this species under Plekocheilus s. str .. In the original description, Dunker mentions “irregular spots and streaks under a translucent (...) epidermis.” There is no mention of the malleation characteristic of this subgenus. Examination of the original figures reveals that the sculpture seems to consist of spiral lines crossed by similarly sized axial lines. This excludes it from the nominate subgenus. In the São Paulo museum we found one specimen that corresponds to Dunker’s description and closely fits the figures. Unfortunately, the label has the imprecise locality “Bogotá.”
