DISTRIBUTION: Ethiopia throughout E. Africa to Zambia and Angola, and W. Cameroun.

COMMENT: Includes ansorgei, cabrerai, kempi, lakiunde, nilotica, nyikae, provocax, soricoidcs, tarella, and zena; see Heim de Balsac and Meester, 1977, Part 1:25-26. Gureev, 1979:409, listed ansorgei, nilotica, and zena as distinct species without comment.
