COMMENT: Considered a distinct species by Spitzenberger, 1978, Ann. Nat. Hist. Mus. Wien, 81:409; but see also Richter, 1970, Zool. Abh. Mus. Tierk. Dresden, 31 (17):293-304, who treated it as a subspecies of gueldenstaedti, and Corbet, 1978:28, who treated it as a subspecies of russula .
