COMMENT: Formerly included in brevicauda by McGaugh and Genoways, 1976, Museology, 2:81; and Handley, 1979. Tate et al., 1980, Proc. Biol. Soc. Wash., 93:50-60, and Hall, 1981:57, listed telmalestes as a distinct species.
