Agrypnus consobrinus (Candèze, 1857)

Lacon consobrinus Candèze, 1857: 125 .

Agrypnus consobrinus: Hayek, 1973: 142 . For more information, including synonyms, see Hayek (1973). Distribution. India, Pakistan (Cate 2007, Platia 2015a).

Literature. Platia (2015a: 11): first record from Pakistan, figures of male habitus, antenna and genitalia.

Remark. The species considered to be A. consobrinus from Pakistan by Platia (2015a) is most probably not conspecific with A. consobrinus lectotype deposited in the Natural History Museum in London, UK (NHMUK). The lectotype of A. consobrinus have pronotum without any elevations. Agrypnus consobrinus sensu Platia (2015a) probably belongs to “ A. binodulus species group”, whose representatives have two tubercles on the pronotal disk. Based on the comparison of images by Platia (2015a) and the photograph of the lectotype of A. orientalis deposited in NHMUK, the species studied by Platia could be A. orientalis Hope, 1843 . Unfortunately, the type locality and distribution of this species is rather unclear (Hayek 1973).
