27. Palpifer sexnotatus (Moore, 1879: 413) (Hepialus)
Type locality: Darjiling [India, West Bengal, Darjeeling] .
Distribution: Indian records: Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, West Bengal. Global records: Bhutan (Tindale 1941; Grehan & Ismavel 2017).
Note: The distribution of P. sexnotatus is quite dubious. Grehan & Ismavel (2017) recorded the Indian distribution of this species from Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. While, Tindale (1941) reported it from Bhutan. Dr. J. R. Grehan (per. Comm.) mentioned that P. sexnotatus is applicable only to northeastern India. So, probably the other records of P. sexnotatus belong to different species.
